2nd Build (Budget Skylake)

Actually my 1155 motherboard broke and I don't want to spend for another 1155 itx motherboard since the case I'm using is Thermaltake Core V1 which only fits ITX motherboards. And 1155 itx motherboards are out of shelves already in our local shops.

That's why I decided to low-end skylake build. What choice do I have left?

in that case, if you have any friends that could borrow you a board that they dont need for you to use in the mean time, do so

if not, just go with your route ^^

So I decided to upgrade to skylake and sold my 3rd gen parts.

I came up with these skylake parts but would like to ask first for your opinion about each of them.

CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3Ghz

Motherboard: MSI H110M Pro Vh Intel H110 Chipset or MSI H110M ECO (which is better, besides the # of usb ports)

Ram: G-Skills Ripjaws V 8GB 2x4gb DDR4 2400 CL15 Red

GPU: GTX 750 Ti StormX OC (came from my 3rd gen build)

Case: Aerocool GT-RS (will fit any motherboard and has many drive slots)

Those are the parts that I found on our local shops but feel free to suggest other budget parts and I'll try to look for them here locally.

I mainly use my computer for programming, web development, and some casual gaming for latest titles.

Thanks!

GTX 750 Ti StormX OC, which came from my previous build

then its a pretty capable low end machine, assuming you're playing on 1080p or below

as for the motherboard, if u dont need the function the more premium one gives, then just get the cheaper one

though you're still missing PSU and storage, but ill just assume you're using old parts ^^

Honestly I don't know which is premium between those two motherboards. I saw them both on local shops, H110M ECO is like $4-$5 more expensive than H110M PRO VH though few bucks wouldn't hurt. I just would like to know which is better :)

Yup, I'm using old PSU, GPU and storage. :)

Well gianski - the simple truth here is that anything you do is going to be limited by the CPU - and especially with later generations of intel almost everything worthy of note is on the chip. So in conclusion get the cheaper board. I cant find any difference in the build quality of the boards from a casual glance.

and they both have the same chipset.

However i would definately consider something along the lines of getting a board with 2 pci-e lanes and getting another 750ti

dont get another 750Ti... just get a gtx 950 or 960... or 970 if possible

only after he gets a better processor though, an i5 + 960(or 970) is already going to be sufficient for 1080p for quite some time

Yea i agree that if you were to go the route of mid level gear that would be the absolute beast of a route - but if you could find a used 750 ti and pair with a MOBO costing just a couple of extra $ that would likely be the largely cheaper route to some beastly value performance

Thanks a lot, @Ferensar and @Moonzy for enlightening me on which board, really appreciated your inputs. I think I'm going to stick with one of the boards I posted since this is a budget build and I'm only a casual gamer, not 1080p hardcore. :)

Sounds like you are going to be a happy man, just of of interest what are you upgrading from? and if you are primarily using it for coding work and stuff like that how come you need more cpu power?

I've upgraded from i3 3240 but I decided to replace them all with low-end budget 6th gen so that it won't be hard for me upgrading in the near future.

Ohh and using my computer, alot of the day i would really suggest to consider a different CPU cooler then the stock for your new rig, and dialing back the TI to perhaps sub standard speeds so you can have a nice quiet workspace.

Yes, currently using Deepcool Ice Edge.

im also curious about what system he is upgrading from,

if its decent, OP should just stick with his system until he can afford the full set at once (buying i5 or i3, saving on not buying a pentium)

while i agree with your post if the OP have money to spare, if he doesnt, the stock fan can be configured to be silent as well as his chip is not running that hot anyway

i used my i5 6600 with stock for a month or so, i configured it to run at low rpm so its silent as well

same thing goes for gpu, if you dont have to ramp up the fan speed on your gpu, overclock ahead xD free performance

also, when you are upgrading in the future, make sure your power supply is sufficient for the things you are going to get

that i3 is as good as, if not better, than the pentium you're going to get, my advice is as above
