This has been discussed several times. All of the non-reference cards perform about the same in their price brackets. EVGA stands out slightly because of their great customer support and Step-up program. Personally, I'm a fan of Asus Strix.

how can you be a fan of it after owning one? i'm not impressed by mine what so ever.

not any better...stick with a card with DUal fans...they are bigger and quieter and move more air than three smaller fans.

Good graphics card with poor customer support. If you're buying a low end card customer support isn't that big a deal. With an enthusiast card it's almost as important as performance.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I've owned 4 of them... never had an issue with any of them. Always dead silent and cool. Maybe you got a bad card? My 2 current ones have ASIC quality of 83% and 87%.

even more important: the DESIGN of the card..

this:

GTX-980-TI-MSI-1.JPG

Better than this...ALWAYS:

883792409_919266310_o.jpg

Because the bigger the fans the more air they move therefore the lower the RPMs will need to be resulting in quieter operation, also bigger fans have a lower pitch making them much less noticeable.
so...buy cards with BIG fans whenever possible.

mine is only 70% but it still clock to 1440mhz with no voltage increase...it run at 75c in the witcher 3 with 55% fanspeed for example...and anything beyond 55% is too loud for me personally the fans spin really fast and 60% is already very noisy...100% is complete hell on earth it's louder than a air dryer. So yeah, not impresssed.

Is that mean the top card is EVGA?And which is the next top card?

EVGA has great cards and has the best customer service. Plus EVGA has the step up program so that if anything better launches in the next 90 days you can use 100% of the purchase price to trade up.

When it comes to overclocking all 980ti's are vary similar, from model to model. Individual performance will vary. But for instance my Hybrid with a reference PCB overclocks to 1500mhz on the core, the most I've seen any tester get a 980ti by moving sliders in overclocking software was 1530mhz on a MSI lightning. 30MHz is maybe a frame per second, but most likely wouldn't make a performance difference in most games. So as Nano said design becomes important because you don't want a plane taking off in your case ;)

If anyone asks you never saw me.

no not at all it has dual 140mm fans for intake at the front, one 120mm fan on the floor of the case blowing air straight into the GPU and 120mm exaust at the rear (top of the case is open so hot air also exaust from the top even though no fans there) airflow is good PSU is gold rated CPU runs cool enough it's just the card has a very hard time staying bellow 75C and i can't ramp up the fans past 55% otherwise it gets loud.

I just leave the fans on auto. My system is disconnected right now while I'm running cat6 everywhere but I'll find out what my temps are once it's back up. I don't recall them ever really going above 70 though. Maybe I just got lucky, but as I said, I owned 4 of them so far. Sold the 1st two for the factory OC models (higher ASIC).

mine is a factory OC model as well...it's clocket a like 1350mhz out of the box...but the asic is still low on it (70%) yours are above 80% so they are likely more efficient so they might very well run a bit cooler than mine...but i suspect Asus did a poor job with the thermal paste on my card and i would LOVE to pop the cooler and replace it with top of the line paste but i can't because asus put a warranty void sticker on one of the screw around the GPU. :(

That really sucks, and yes the ASIC quality could be why mine are running cooler. Sorry to hear that.

it's not THAT bad i mean 75c is still fine and the fan noise is still bearable and the card like i said perform well and clock high with not additional voltages so i'm fairly happy with it still...plus it looks totally gorgeous in my system right now...i wouldnt trade it...but buying new, nahh i know for a fact that there are better quieter models out there such as the MSI gaming 6G and EVGA FTW or classified for example. Those have 33% less fans to begin with, and they are also bigger and quieter fans...the fans of the asus strix are IMHO cheap and loud.

the cards are beautiful, no doubt about it...i would like to be able to make the led on the side to be on all the time (i assume you 2 would like to be able to do that since you have two cards that won't blink in sync) but other than that yeah it looks good the plate is amazing with nice details on it and the leds for the power connectors are a nice touch too. My card is too heavy for my PCie Slot though, i have to use a little black plastic toy bolt to make a small leg to help lift the weight of the card fortunately you won't see it or anything but that's another problem in that the card itself is very rigid and has absolutely zero flex to it, but it's huge and heavy so the case/motherboard assembly is where the flex come from...do you have that problem as well? dont see any sag on your picture...

I owned many EVGA Cards and they are good. But other Brands like Zotac or MSI are good as well. Never had to RMA a Card tho.

I would buy the Zotac amp!extreme again. Silent, cool, extreme powerfull. If you want serious Power right out the Box, with further OC potential, go for it. But on Paper, all 980Ti´s can reach the same clockspeeds.

If you have a Dark/Black build, the amp!extreme fits perfect, if Looks count for you.

There is some sag on the bottom card but that's also because of how I ran the power cables to it. The top card's power pushes the bottom card down some. I just need to get a bracket or something on the bottom card to balance it more.

Edit:
And yes, I agree the backplate is, in my opinion, the nicest option out of any of the cards.
