I'm considering either of these two DACs (Unless someone can suggest a better DAC combo and or headphone amp combo for under $300), I'm less concerned with the features, even though the volume knob is a nice touch. Has anybody been able to compare sound quality. Which one of these two DACs is going to provide the better sound and is it significantly better? Leaning towards the D1 for the convenience. This would be driving a pair of Presonus Eris E5 monitors or some sort of power amp later on.

How about neither of these overpriced, underwhelming products.

Micca Origen will give you pre-amp capability, headphone amp, and DAC, all in one convenient and high value package.

I just watched a review video on that product last night. Some Z something fella on Youtube. After that, I'm pretty sold, despite just wanting to support Schiit as a company.

Uh, what about Schiit? Neither the D1 nor Dragonfly have anything to do with them. If you want to support them, get a Magni 2U and call it a day; throw in a Modi 2U if you hate money.

I was just thinking through my thumb. But you're probably right with the hating money comment. The Micca Origen looks like a great product at a sweet price point.

Hmm, never heard of that one will check it out. It sounds AS good as the other ones though?

Also I still asume going to work better than integrated sound on an X99 pro MOBO. I recently upgraded mobo and lost firewire and therefore my 10 year old MOTU 8Pre which was awesome, but drivers were a pain in the ass, as well as I don't do recording anymore. I'm only looking for something to drive my monitors and Senheiser HD515.
