I NEED HELP !

Go to solution Solved by airdeano,

sorry guys i actually left out the issue lol all the holes on the h80 rad have rounded completely ! im going to order another one in a few weeks but need to use my rig in the mean time u guys know how i could fix it ??

unless you go to the hardware store and buy some hardened screws trying to use larger screws isn't any good (unless h80i uses aluminum or copper rad shroud)  since the steel of the shroud will too hard.  I tried this with XSPC rads and I just ended up wrecking screws to no effect.

stripped holes in rads are a pain, I have 2 xspc RX360s and 2 RX 480s and they came with about 10 stripped holes all together. probably because of dull tools being used during manufacturing.

the next screw bigger to use would be the M4 (metric) or 8-32 screw (.026" larger).

might just be able to re-start the 8-32 screw in the stripped 6-32 hole or use a 8-32

tap to form some sort of thread to hold with. and still fits the fan holes.

make 'em 1.25 or 30mm long.

You have 3 Solutions in my mind, A- Run you stock cooler and take off any overclocks B- Use some glue to mount the fans (really risky) or C- use rubber grommets to mount the fans ( I have some from my fractal design 120mm silent series R2 fans, and they a piece of rubber which can be used in the place of a screw to reduce vibration so I am sure it will work if you have some.)

ah nice one mate thanks for the quick response and multiple options im going now to try n find some grommets of an old rig that my mate has if not thinking of using a 1m larger screw and use them untill i receive my new 100i :) u have any other suggestions of water cooling (sealed unit) not an extravagant water cooling with tubes and coolant) lol ??

Have you tried using zip ties to hold the fans to the rad?
