ModMic 4.0 Static Background Noise

Hi all, I've just recently started to stream some games a bit here and there and noticed the onboard sound quality I get with the modmic. The static background noise is atrocious and I've seen online people recommend a sound card or sub adapter to fix the issue. Is there any way to fix this without buying a sound card? If not, what sound card do you recommend. I'm not looking to shell out too much money, but I can do with a reasonable amount.

Thanks much.

yes a soundcard will most likely fix it.

I had the same problem as you even though I plugged the mic jack into the back of the computer. Just went on Amazon and found a cheap USB to audio adapter and plugged it into the back of my computer. That seemed to fix it for me.

If you want to try without a soundcard, see the Audio Interference Troubleshooting Guide in my signature.

Thanks man, I'll try those out.

The modmic is incompatible with a few soundcards because of the way its a powered mic. It doesn't like Soundblaster Z's for example but it works really well with Xonar's. I don't know if there are issues with Realtek but potentially with different chipsets. It can be a really excellent mic so long as you can get it onto a sound card it works well with.
