Hi guys.

I currently have an hd7990 and am wondering in what situations a 390x would outperform it.  I read that the 7990 had more texture mapping units, higher floating point performance, more shading units, more compute units.  Is that because it's basically two 7970s?  What situation would a single 390x outperform my card? Is it worth the money to upgrade?

Id say its a side grade, hard to tell as the benchs are quite far apart, I tried comparing here with a 290X and theyre very similar

Id go at least a Fury or a 980ti if you have the $$$

What if my mobo only supports x16x4 crossfire? Would a single card then outperform it?

dual gpu cards generally have plx chips on board, so as long as you have one pcie slot thats above gen 3 8x, you will be fine.
