Acer XR341CK choppy video at 75hz

I just bought an Acer XR341CK monitor and runs at a75hz refresh rate natively. However, when the monitor is set to 75hz and game resolution is set to 75hz , the video is incredibly choppy at any fps. Moving windows around the desktop is also choppy. If I lower in game resolution to 60hz it runs smooth. Same for on the desktop. Any idea why this monitor is not performing well at its native refresh rate?

I am running a gtx970 strix and can get fps well above 100 so this isn't a hardware issue. I have also tried locking the fps at 75 and its still bad. I have also tried the latest and previous Nvidia drivers.

Any ideas? Thanks. I am hoping I didn't get a defective monitor.
