2200$ Gaming & Hackintosh Build

Saito

Hey all,

Could you please let me know what you think of my build

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WMKw99

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($381.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($403.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($189.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($87.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($134.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Classified ACX 2.0+ Video Card  ($686.98 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT H440 (Matte Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($136.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CSM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($102.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $2252.86

I got the video card as a gift so that is a load off the price:x  and I have all other peripherals and monitors so that is good

The things that I am thinking about the build is

Runs games in 1440p at high  ~ ultra settings

Is 32 GB Ram an overkill? I do plan on hosting a gaming server with around 18 people occasionally (20 mbps up), use run virtual machines occasionally, and video edit occasionally

Is there a huge difference between SSD and M.2 in terms of boot speed and games loading speed.

The reason that the power supply is 750w is in case I would like to SLI in the future

I would really love to install Mac OS as a secondary OS dual booting it with Windows 10

I do plan on streaming games and recording gameplay

Please let me know what you think

Why do you need Mac OS? If it's for video rendering then you're better off getting the 5820k and a cheaper board.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

I have heard of some success with a couple of builds using 6700k / Skylake

@afyeung

Its for developing iOS applications using xCode and running them mostly.

Yeah then the 6700k is more than enough. Board is nice as well if you have more than enough money.

That board is overkill. 32gb is probably overkill aswell, just grad 16gb, you can still upgrade.

Thanks for that, do you think I should go for 2 8 GB Ram sticks or one stick of 16 GB also what board would suggest to match my requirements o:

Pretty much any motherboard will do. 2 8gb sticks will give you better performance due to dual channel memory. It will limit your upgradeabilty to 32gb though. I would expect that to be enough for most people, if you think you need 64gb (more than highly unlikely) at some point, go for one 16gb stick.

I agree, I highly doubt I will ever need to go higher than 32GB of RAM! Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I'm looking for a more modest motherboard for now
