I can't decide whether or not I want to buy the r7 370 and keep my build inexpensive or spend the extra money and get an r9 380. Some advice? Or other options for a card?

save some money and get a used 280X, you can get them easily for around $150 usd.

Can you post the entire build you plan to purchase? I am pretty sure i can work out something that can fit a R9 380 inside, use http://pcpartpicker.com please :D.

If your build is fine now, than save till you are satisfied for a build.

If you will not be satisfied with a build, you will spend to much. Because you bought the one part and than the better replacement part.

 

But if you need to build a pc now, than spend as much as you can.

budget? use? build? r9 380 is a good 1300 points higher in passmark. 5500ish or so. for 1080p i would go with it if you can only pick between those 2. but if you are going new on the r9 380 it is about 200.00 so for that amount id get a gtx 960 strix 4gb.... better imho but that is somewhat to do with how i use pc  for pure gaming 380 is better
