Ok so i recently found a different cpu for my hackintosh. Its the intel core i5 3570k. I looked on the intel ark and it doesn't list the z87 chipset as compatible with the cpu. the board I'm using is the gigabyte z87-hd3. will the 3570k and the board work together or no? i think the sockets are the same.

No.  The 3570k is an LGA 1155 CPU.  Z87 and H81 boards are LGA 1150.  You need a Z77 chipset board to overclock a 3570k.

Yes.  But to overclock it, you'll need a P67 or Z68 or Z77 motherboard.

No.  You need an lga 1155 board for the 3570k. Any haswell cpu will work on the z87 board though.  Also,  only z and p series chipsets support overclocking

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case
