If I fresh install windows, can I get my office 2010 back?

Need to fresh install my dad's laptop as it is so full of bloatware,

 

as far as I'm aware - to keep the office, I should record the key on a piece of paper, then transfer the program files for it or find the installation file and then put it on a USB. Once I'm done with the fresh install, then I should reinstall office or copy it's program files folder and enter the old key.

 

Will this work? It's very important that it does.

That should work, but sometimes keys are funny. If you want an explicit answer I'd suggest getting in touch with Microsoft customer support. Try to get an email from them saying that it WILL for sure work.

@Aleksbgbg I agree with the above two posts! Even though I used a universtiy copy of MS Office 2010 it threw a tantrum for a week saying it was not genuine even though it was.....

In general if you have the product key you can easily find the ISO image file and re-install the software. With M$ however there are some differences when the product is a retail version or an MSDN one etc. They have different keys and although it can be referring to the same product the keys would not match.
