Hello interblag!

So I've just begun doing weekly livestream on thursdays, but for some reason OBS only seems to capture a few frames (e.g. 5 frames for a 30-minute stream). I am not at all sure why it is doing this. Here are my system specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 @ 3.9 GHz

Mobo: MSI Z97 PC Mate

GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 380 NITRO

RAM: 2x4Gb G. Skill Ares DDR3-2400

Those are the specs that I suppose matter, anyways. I have a sneaking suspicion that my underpowered processor may be the culprit, but I hope I'm wrong. I'm hoping it's just some setting somewhere deep in the depths of OBS.

So does anyone have any suggestions? I greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

So the program is seriously badly optimised, I have the same problem.

To be honest, try to use Plays.tv that is included with the AMD software (Gaming Evolved). It's a lot better and gives you no lag.

OBS is a really good program, just badly optimised. You need hyperthreading or a 4+core processor :(

It can work with lesser CPUs as well but I'm sure you'd need a Nvidia card to use a different codec that is better or some understanding to optimise it.

I will check this out for sure when I get home today.

@Aleksbgbg i just tried to install Plays.tv and it givesme a message saying "Your hardware is not compatible with Plays.tv." I am not sure whether it is talking about my cpu or gpu, but i am assuming one of those is the culprit.

Dual core processor is really bad for streaming. You want at least an i5. Your best bet would be to use a codec that uses your GPU instead of the CPU, or just upgrade the CPU (i7 would be ideal for streaming, but i5 gets the job done).

Do you know where I could get a codec like that? I know that my CPU is way underpowered, by the way, but I just don't have the cash for a better one right now.

As someone already mentioned above, with AMD card your best bet is the AMD Gaming Evolved software.

I have an AMD GPU and have Gaming Evolved installed. However, Plays.tv continues to give me the "Your hardware is incompatible" message. Is there a way I can fix this?
