WW2 - important things...

Go to solution Solved by HKZeroFive,

Almost forgot - the causes of the war. Here's where I can really elaborate for Germany.

Germany just lost WW1 and they're pissed. The military commanders Ludendorff and Hindenburg make up a lie on how the politicians 'backstabbed' them by surrendering, while the army was supposedly fighting strong (which is not true, they were losing). Hitler uses this when he comes to power.

Treaty of Versailles - very strict rules. Reduction of army, removal of the navy and airforce, demilitarisation of the Rhineland etc. Everyone in Germany is angry - the communists, the right wing, the moderates - you name it.

Germany becomes the Weimar Republic. We have the 'golden years' where the economy is stable, and American banks loan Germany large sums of money for the long term. Then, disaster. The Great Depression. Unemployment goes up and it's a crisis.

Now here's where the Nazis come in. They just managed to make themselves known before the GD, so they get tons of seats and eventually get elected in power. Hitler is Chancellor.

Remember Hindenburg? He's the President now and he has a constitutional power called Article 48 - which is essentially means he can do whatever he wants; dissolve parliament, call reelections, pass laws without any votes. Hitler uses the Reichstag Fire to convince Hindenburg to pass a law that suspends basic civil rights. Then, the Enabling Act gets passed, which allows the Nazis to become into an totalitarian power. A dictatorship.

So then, Hitler is ambitious. He wants a Third Reich, he wants payback for WW1. What does he do? Conquer any land that has Germans in it, which he does. The UK and France are angry. Warn him to back off Poland or else they'll declare war. And guess what? He invades Poland. And that's how we got the European Theatre for WW2.

As for the Pacific War, it's basically Japan fearing that the US will stop there expansion throughout Asia, and deciding to attack them at Pearl Harbour. US declares war on both Japan and Germany. You know the rest.

so i need to write som things about ww2 for a school thing and i dont really know much about ww2 so maybe you guys can help?

i need to know at least 3 things that caused the world war to break out.

3 important things that happened during the war

and 3 things that happened after the war. what change and stuff. basically consequences

Well, the causes will depend on who you ask. I would probably mention the unstable economy of the Weimar Republic, the rise of facism in Southern Europe and the aggressive militarism of Japan.

During the war: D-Day, the Battle of Stalingrad and the nukes over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

After the war: The Marshall plan, the civil war in Greece and the occupation of Japan.

Forgot alot but here's my three points for during the war:

-The Holocaust

-D-Day or the Battle of Stalingrad

-Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Not sure about consequences... I'd probably touch on the Berlin Blockade and the tensions between the Soviet Union and America post-war.
