Q1) Have you applied correct pressure while inserting the ram ,i mean when you are pressing the ram into the slot, the clips should automatically get locked?

Q2) Have put the two ram in same colored slot ?

If above answer is yes, than check out what your bios says, if your bios says 3.94 Gb

than First take out both of the ram. Than put first ram in first slot and check if it is working on not & what bios say's , if it is working and shows correct size of the ram than try out other slot , if all the slots are working fine with your first ram than repeat the same process with second ram. By this you will get answer weather the problem is inside your ram or slot.

have you tried to check out different slot with different ram.Fist take out both of the ram than, Check all the slot only with first ram and see what size you are getting. If all the slots are working properly with first ram than repeat the same process with 2nd Ram and see if 2nd ram is working properly with all the slot. If both of the ram is not working properly at same slot than the problem is in your slot. if first ram is working and 2nd is not than the problem is in your ram.
