Mixing Memory

Voltages are same. 1.5v. So what if I set the timing of each stick individually ? Will it shows instability or it will then adjust itself ?

It mostlikely depends on your moba, you may need to manually set the corsair ones down to prevent instability , but in the two instances I've seen the bios auto down clocked ram speed and matched cas latency, either way it isn't hard to do if you have to set them manually, but I'm unsure of the specifics in terms of what determines whether it will sync the memory automatically, or if it always does.

I currently have Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 kit. I need to upgrade to 16GB. But I need red ones. The ones I own are not available for sale anywhere. So I planned to get a G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600Mhz 10-10-10-30 stick. But I don't know whether it will work. I think it should but can I get off by setting specific timing for the individual stick in BIOS and it will work ? Or should I increase latency of current sticks to match new one (losing some performance). I don't care about dual channel performance. My last ram slot is dead and I don't want to RMA the board now. So three sticks is fine. Thanks

If they are the same voltage they should work together just the timings will be synced to the slower one in this case the ripjaws, if the voltages are different then some major issues may occur.

It'll technically work without any problem. But I'd sell those 2x4 sticks just to be safe and get a 2x8.

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

No one buys old memory sticks man. Memory is on the cheap now and everyone just buys new one. Also I am quite fond of those cute red sticks

I wouldn't worry about not working with what you have.

It'll work 95%.

Ram arrived, I set the timings manually and it showed me kernel mode blue screen. I put it to auto and it worked fine. 1600 MHz. Still dual channel. All three sticks at the speed of new stick but wonder why it blue screened when I set the exact timings manually instead of auto. Anyways Inam happy. Thanks for the help
