Hi, i have already built my system, (about 1 and a half years ago) and i was thinking on getting two 128gb 840's running in raid 0 with the os and core files on it. Is there any way i can change the program 86 file location to my hard drive? (i know how to change steam's install directory, etc, but not too sure about other various applications)

2 ssds without raid card will only slow down performance

Samsung ssds come with a USB to sata connector and the software to copy your drive over to the ssd.

Also why 2 120 drives and not 1 250?

your reply makes no sense.

There is a way to put program 86 file to hard drive but the problem is that I forgot how as I did it 3 years ago.

So you essentially you want to run everything slow and laggy.

The ideal thing to do is put these two SSDs on RAID 0, grab a WD Red drive (mainly for its NAS grade reliability) and configure nightly backups, and leave your HDD for RAW storage.

For example, Chrome will run fully from SSD, but if you ever need to download something you just tinker with settings to redirect everything to HDD.

The same applies for Office, Video/Photo Editing software even games you play very often.

Reading more from the SSD than writing on it is the main thing to do if you're ever planning on deploying one, which is the case when your essentials are all on the SSDs, your OS is backed up on a seperate reliable HDD, and most importantly keep the RAW Storage of these apps to HDD)

I hope i clarified this enough.

Just change all your install directory to HDD when installing software? Why the need to migrate from SSD to HDD?

ok thanks, il probably go for a single 250gb ssd (maybe even bigger) instead of the two running in raid 0

Yeah just bare in mind that whatever you do don't keep precious data on your SSD and even if you do, backup is crucial.

You'll be able to discuss backup strategies in the forum anyway, so good luck with your SSD experience !
