Looking for a nice headset

I'm looking for a headset that will work well for music and gaming. I'd be willing to spend no more than $100. (unless what you suggest is really that good)

What I need in the headset:

- 50mm+ drivers prefered

- USB is a must, my headphone jack is broken, USB/3.5mm is fine or if you can recommend a good 3.5mm to usb adapter that's good too

- Light

- Comfortable

- Very heavy bass (something like Turtle beach headsets can produce when turned all the way up)

Headphones would be fine too, but I prefer to have a mic if I ever need it.

I've looked at quite a few but don't know what's going to work best. Even if you could just point me to a few brands or tell me what I should be looking for then that woul be great. Thakns in advanced for any help. :)

Gamescom Plantronis 780 ? I use mine for gaming primarly since I have a dedicated headset for music, but the quality on these is still great, the bass is pretty much the only thing there is, the mids a bit, but not at all the highs, so yeah basically, listening to music is not really recommend, but you can, and for gaming, it's just perfect, you have 7.1 surround, and you can hear everything around you.

There's also an incredibly good quality mic, I was really suprised how good it is.

So for $70/80 it's a great headset, be sure to check it out mate!

I'll be listening to music more than gaming, these seem a bit lower in quality when I looked at them, just seemed too easy to break. Thanks for the recommendation though, surprised someone reponded so quickly.

I currently have the steelseries siberia v2 red edition they're are pretty good. Very comfortable, even wearing for long hours. I also have a pair of corsair vengeance 1500 they are also very comfortable with pretty good sound quality. all under 100. think i got the siberia v2 for like 60$ on sale and 50$ for the corsair ones.

Do both or either of them have powerful bass? That's my main focus. I looked at both of these and they look like they could do what I want them to do. I've had Razer carcharias they had less bass than a $30 logitech communication headset, and I had Creative tactic3d rage but they had too little bass and it was quite choppy as well.

Yeah the LOOK easy to break, but trust me they aren't.

Yeah listening to music is not as brilliant with these.

Maybe the Shure SRH440, great performance/price headset, and awesome for music, I also have these.

No problem, I always like helping people out so they don't buy crappy things. *cough* samsung and alienware *cough*

Unfortunately both the Shure and Akg aren't USB, I can't use 3.5mm unless I have an adapter, I'd buy a $1 adapter on ebay but those break easily. Makes me wish my headphone jack didn't break. xD

Or something similar. I've used one for quite a while when I'm to lazy to plug it into the back of my mobo.

I will most likely go for headphones, thanks. What do you think about these? http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?item=ATH-WS55BRD&source=froogle&gclid=CN762-nmu7kCFahcMgodC0sABw

They fit my budget a little better, and I heard great things about the studio version.

I know they are really low budget but koss porta pro's

lightest bassiest headphone I own. and I find them very comfortable.

@ShearMe or @Aphexx might have some better options for you as I'm not much of a bass head.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Well, if OP's willing, I can't think of anything better than V-Moda Crosfade LP's. I got mine for $75 bucks on a sale last year so if you can wait till black Friday you might get lucky.

Otherwise, checkout Audiotechnica's ws series - I'd bet that's Aphexx's recommendation.

I always use caution when recommending the cheaper audio technica ws solid bass headphone especially the sub $100 athws55 it is a very light build and not rugged enough to be the primary/only headphone despite sounding bassier, soundstagier, bright(ier) and better(ier) than the ath m50 for edm music

I would +1 the vmoda or wait and cross your fingers for another beyerdynamic dt770 fire sale I got mine for under $100 plus ship

I will be buying something this month, so can't wait until the v-moda or beyerdynamics go on sale. Are there any Sennheiser headphones that have good bass? I tried one of those one time but they had miserable bass performance, and were even bass oriented.

No, not in your price point. Bass isn't everything btw.

I can go up to $120, I'd prefer not to but if it's worth it then ok. All I really care about is heavy bass and clarity.

The V-Moda's are good even at standard price of $100-$110. I really really really would consider it if I were you - a good investment like solid headphones can last you a decade or more if you're not intentionally taking a hammer to them.

Found 2:

1. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_31583_Pioneer-HDJ-500-K-HDJ500K-Professional-DJ-Headphones-Black.html

2. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_46274_AKG-K512-MKII-Performance-Headphones.html

If I could spend more than I'd probably go with the V-Modas but I'm just unwilling to go to $100 for those when there's some like these 3.

Lol, I was about to say, that graph doesn't look bass heavy. Beyerdynamic DT770's would be another good recommendation, but the reason I didn't mention it was because it's not in your price range.

frequency response means very little, and I'm curious as to what you think that chart means.

Frequency response means a lot when you're trying to find something that is heavy in a certain range. It wouldn't mean anything if I was just going for balanced sound, but I'm not. The graph displays the sensitivity of the heapdhones at different frequencies.

Edited the original post since they had 5-23k instead of the correct 15-23k response.
