Posted February 17, 2016 I am planning on overclocking a few things in my system and I could use some help. 1. what is a good CPU benchmark and stress test so I can make sure my system is stable? 2. How long should I run the stress test? 3. How do you over clock a GPU? I can't find anything in the BIOS. 4. Is there a stress test/benchmark for the GPU? Posted February 17, 2016 1. AIDA64 is a good moderate stress test, Prime95 is also recommended but it puts your CPU through some serious stuff that you really won't be seeing in everyday use. 2. Some people let theirs run overnight, but I personally think for an hour or two will serve you well enough. The real test is the workload you put on it everyday. 3. GPU can be overclocked with programs in Windows such as MSI Afterburner (this will work for all brands of GPUs, but other brands have their own software which may give you perks of unlocked voltage, etc.) 4. Unigine Heaven/Valley are the ones I've always use, but they always allow you to get away with a little bit more than what some games will, so like CPU the real test is the games you play. This may help with CPU overclocking, good luck "You should look up common sense and add it to your vocabulary." - dougdangger 2015 Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/549458-overclocking-and-benchmarks/#findComment-7255648 Share on other sites
 Posted February 17, 2016 I have your answers for three and four, and maybe one. Answer to number one/four: Get 3DMark, and turn on the Firestrike benchmark. It stresses your GPU and CPU. It will turn off automatically and will score your system. Answer to number three: Get MSI Afterburner. I used it not to long ago and got a pretty good OC out of it.
