Dynamic IP and 1&1 domain

Guest

Hi

I purchased a domain at 1&1.

I can only have a dynamic public IP (thanks ISP).

Until I purchased a domain, I used no-ip (a DynDNS provider) to access my (personal) website over the internet (address was something like xxx.ddns.net ).

Since I can't have a static public IP, I can't just use a "type A" DNS to a static IP to access my server from my purchased domain.

Since it is not possible to CNAME a root domain ( xxx.com ) I can't just CNAME my domain to the no-ip address (if someone can explain why that would be welcome, I'm not sure I understood)

So what I did is I created a "www" subdomain and I CNAMEd the subdomain to the no-ip address.

I also redirected xxx.com to www.xxx.com

Works perfectly, except I would like the address bar to just display xxx.com and not www.xxx.com

I know this is a minor problem but it makes me feel like I didn't choose the "cleanest" solution for all of this, could you guys help?

A "quick & dirty" method would be to maybe use an iframe for the site's content. May be worth a try.

Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.
