gonna keep it simple

my friend installed some new updates to windows

now it doesn't boot, we tried this: taking out all the ram sticks and trying each one alone, switching cables between his ssd and hard drive (the hard drive apparently doesn't sound)

and there is no idea trying to install a usb repair tool thing because it doesnt give the option to boot from the usb.

any ideas guys?

This is how it looks:

Uaw the USB the repair tool but go into bios and make the USB priority boot. Or as you boot smash F8 as soon as you hit the power button (it may be different on your board) and you'll get a boot option. Choose the USB.

Then use System restore.

It's not a race to the bottom.

If F8 didn't work, MOST boards use the <DEL> key. as soon as you hear the 'beep' that sounds as the computer starts spam the DEL key and as soon as your into BIOS find the option as described above.

That to me looks like it can't find the OS.

You should be able to repair the OS using the repair feature, or system restore or just plain format.

It's not a hardware issue unless of course the OS drive is not being detected in bios. That would be a different story though.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Can you enter safe mode,if yes then try upgrading your integrated (or if you don't have one upgrade your discreet gpu's driver)gpu's driver from device manager in the control panel .from there the gpus will be present under the display adapters heading then right click on your gpu and select upgrade driver then select browse from the internet.

you have to spam f8 or del at startup right?(might also be another button) (and then chose safe mode)

You have two directions mixed up.

BIOS instructions:

Spam DEL at startup, you will see a screen appear, it will prolly be blue or Mono colored of some sort. Navigate to the Storage section and update it so that the connected USB device is the first one in list (this USB should have Windows CD Media on it so you can install/repair windows) Now restart that you have setup your USB to be your Startup Device and when it says press any button to continue do so. From here let us know if you need any help.

Advanced Startup Menu:

Spam F8 at startup and choose 'Start in Safemode' you may need networking so choose this option if you feel it is needed to get files off the internet. From here your gonna try to get into windows and see if updating drivers helps in any way,

From what im reading tho, you prolly want the BIOS instructions as it sounds like the HDD is not recognized on startup anyways. Meaning your wont be able to get into Advanced Startup.
