5960x 45-48c idle with x41 normal?

so i have a kraken x41 on a 5960x , and its 45-48c idle.

when it is cooled by a kraken x61, it is steady 40c.

Are those temps normal?

a bit high for idle but if your loading temps are fine its okay.

there are many factors that increase idle temp.

adaptive vs fixed voltage, EIST, c-states, your ambient temperataure, pump rpm, fan rpm..

Looks fine ... i had similar temp on fx6300 OC with 140mm cooler.

so the cpu cooler is not the problem for my pc crashing?

40C Idle isn't high at all if the ambient temps are high enough. Where do you live? Is the CPU overclocked at all?

temp was taken 10pm at night

Hmmm. What ambient temps do you typically get at that time? Are you sure you put the thermal paste properly?

I'd say the 45-48C idle temp is quite high unless you have very high ambient temp. In a normal low 20's C room temp. I'd expect a low to mid 30's C idle temp. Especially you haven't OC the CPU.

Hmmm. Your numbers are definitely on the hotter side then, not sure what's going on. The Kraken x41 uses a small radiator and it can probably be outperformed by some high end air cooling solutions. But the x61 model at those ambient temps and without an overclock, should give you 35C tops I think. Did you check multiple sensor software? Maybe the reading is wrong. Is the PC getting enough ventilation?

You should test your temps while the OS is booted too. Sometimes while in the BIOS the CPU won't step down it's clock which makes it run considerably hotter.
