Homeserver, should i do it?

Hi,

Should i get this for a homeserver? Is it too powerful?

 

Specs:

Sun Fire X2200 M2 
2x Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2376 (2.3GHz, 1MB cache) 
16GB (8x 2GB DIMM) reg. ECC Single-Rank DDR2-667 
2x 1TB 7200rpm SATA HDD 
LSI Logic SAS3041E RAID HBA 

 

I would get that quite cheap(125euros).

u dont know if the past user abused it by heavy load

I would put it into my garage and i would only use it for storage like nas.

I have owned several servers before like that, and you must know that they are as loud as a vacuum cleaner, especially a 1U

the noise is not an issue for me.

I'd go for it with that price if noise isn't a problem.

 

Have you got proper ventilation in the garage so it won't ovenify the whole room?

It's quite cold in estonia so the heat wont be a problem

Yes, electricity is cheap here so it will be fine
