Hi,

so in the last 2 weeks it happend 3 times:
when playing a game in full screen mode or watching a youtube flash video in full screen something like this would suddenly happen:

(picture found on google)

hqdefault.jpg

After that the PC doesn't respond and I have to turn the power off for a full restart. Windows only detects that the power was shut down unexpectedly and no other error messages appear.

It seems like something with the graphics card might be wrong, but I bought this card (R9 380 Nitro) in September 2015 so it shouldn't be showing any signs of dieing. Also, I am a heavy user with maybe 5h+ runtime every day, and yet it has only happend 3 times in the recent 2 weeks. In the previous months I was using it I had no problems at all.

So what should I do? Contact the retailer for a RMA? But it only happens very seldom so I doubt they will be able to easily reproduce the problem...

The last time this happend my graphics card died so I'm a bit scared right now.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

It could be that the card is defective, it could be a driver issue as well. Try running ddu and reinstalling the latest driver. As suggested, check that the gpu is seated properly and while you're at it, check that the power cables are properly plugged in at the card and power supply (if it's modular). Try an older driver version as well. Lastly, try a different pcie slot as well to rule out the slot, even if it is a 4x slot. Just to rule it out.

It could be a conflict with a Windows update, defective card, power delivery issue, damaged slot or defective card. Try all the steps listed here, even if you don't think that any of these are the problem, that way if you have ruled out everything, your contact with the manufacturer will go that much quicker since you've already done all these steps.
