Refurbished gpu might work, but is not such a good idea for a hdd.The hdd it's dying from it's first spins. The more formats, write/read cycles and activity it has, the faster is dying.Having 2 owners is not a good idea.It might die after 10 years, it might die after 1.

1+ for the next parts.Cpu, gpu, cases, heatsink,

No, no for hdd, mb and ram

Don't go for refurbished storage, especially hard drives because they usually come with a shorter warranty and the risk of data loss is not worth it. However, the perks of refurbs (really depends on the manufacturer) is that they are individually tested to make sure they work 100%. However, I still wouldn't risk getting a refurb hard drive. The video card is fine though.

New is always better, but if you are tight on budget, get refurbed. And if you know what are you doing, you can even get used and refurb it on your own.

EDIT: Yeah I forgot about HDD's. Get those new.

Entirely depends on the product and discount. If it was a PSU I would opt for new. Ram, intel CPUs (and AMD, but intel is safer due to not having pins possibly bent), and GPUs are generally safe. Though if the discount is only $20 off a $400 GPU, i'd opt for new.

Case: NZXT Phantom PSU: EVGA G2 650w Motherboard: Asus Z97-Pro (Wifi-AC) CPU: 4690K @4.2ghz/1.2V Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Ram: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866mhz GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX970 Storage: (2x) WD Caviar Blue 1TB, Crucial MX100 256GB SSD, Samsung 840 SSD Wifi: TP Link WDN4800

Thanks I am tight on budget because I am a teenager so I have no job so I am relying on selling my old games and selling my old pc parts and also doing chores for my parents to get pocket money

Are you able to use paypal? If you decide to go used/refurbed you should check out reddit.com/r/hardwareswap after checking LTT Classified/Ebay :)

The discount is 30 to 40 euros cheaper and for my tight budget this is so important because my original price was in the 900 euros and it has gone in the 800 euros

In my country Luxembourg which is in Europe at 13 you get a bank account which allows you to withdraw a tiny bit of money per day though I think I can add funds to it I will check if can use Paypal

Oh well.. reddit may be out of the option as shipping will kill you. Do you have to go refurbed or is used okay? Have you posted your build in the Planning section? We may be able to get you something cheaper for a similar/less price :)

Hmmm have you checked for refurbed 290X, 7990s? They're not much different and can be cheaper. Personally I prefer going used to refurbed. Most the time refurbs don't list exactly what is included and the condition. It's usually just a used return that doesn't get inspected thoroughly VS buying from someone who has multiple images of the product and says what's included. But that's just me.

290x looks good but to me 390 with it 8gb of VRAM is more future proof

Refurbished is just used but kept upto a higher standard usually companies clean, test, and if needed repair products before labeling them refurbished... As for things to get in certain conditions. HDDs and PSUs are the onlythings I'd say to get new, just about everything else can be gotten used and work fine but refurbished is better,

I wouldn't get any storage options used. But CPU, GPU, Ram go for it :)
