As much as I want that to happen for the sake of standardization, I have come a long way and accepted that G-sync is to this day somewhat "better" than Freesync on the grounds of low FPS cut and ghosting. I REALLY like the idea of Freesync being, well free, and not needing additional licensed hardware but at this point, I just want the best panels to support the better features, with a preference for all of the features of course.

Seriously I have a freesync LG 27um67-b I have zero ghosting that people talk about. What is best anyways what people say or you enjoy? Never know to you try go search out alought of freesync reviews/demos from jayztwocent, Linus some and others never hear about ghosting. Its your choice the whole standardization is here its called VESA they make up the heads of LG, Sony, Samsung, AMD, Nvidia they all approved adding to DIsplayPort and HDMI soon. Nvidia can still have G-sync all they want just seems majority of people don't want to pay for it. Would be nice if my 4k freesync range was wider yes 40 to 60 is narrow but I turn a few options off until Polaris arrives for smooth tearless video just like G-sync for less.

So why did you ask the question if you have come a long way and accepted G-sync? Something about G-sync is making you ask about supporting both.

I am looking forward to the release of the PG348Q and upcoming lines of GPU from either sides. Since this monitor has a Gsync module, I was wondering if it was possible for a manufacturer to make a gsync monitor support freesync as well. I never saw that being in the works or even talked about. Is this one of these cases of manufacturers having annouced support for X, so they won't support competing Y ?

This has probably been answered a few times. I'm sorry if so.

Regards

We all know what the answer to that is.

I have tried it out and didn't notice ghosting either. However, since it's been brought up by the community, it may be a panel-specific issue. I haven't tried out all Freesync panel. However, as you just pointed out, Freesync range IS a disadvantage over Gsync.

Because my focus is not on what color of shirt I wear, but its quality. What I mean here is that I am open to using either standards because I'm not attached to either. What I'll be attached to is the upcoming GPU that "beats the other one", from either side. This is exactly why a monitor that would support both standards would not limit me - and anyone that shops for GPU that doesn't have a brand tattoo - to the GPU that offers the adaptive sync flavor that my monitor supports.

If you consider "the market" to be anyone that owns a display, then I would agree.

Yeah that's who I was mentioning: Those who don't look up these things, participate on the forums, and other goodies to make the most informed, most rational buying decisions for their next computer upgrade - the masses. We are basically the 1% that are informed. It may sound a little contradicting to what I have said, but I firmly believe we are the 1% who are (and I am including myself in the 1% because I participate on some kind of tech forums)

The monitor I plan on getting is either the Acer XB271HK or the Asus PG27AQ. Both are the same spec-wise and are gaming monitors with G-Sync, but I haven't been able to figure out if Acer offers the better warranty and services to justify the extra $100 over the $799 USD Asus offering. So what's your word on it?

The thing is even the g-sync windows on 4k will still be small to being the 60 hz is the max. Anyways to each there own I will have my http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UC98-W-ultrawide-monitor its freesync range is from 40 to 75 and I am sure it will flawlessly unlike a lot of the g-synce 100 hz and 144 hz 34" no ghosting, no blacks screens or RMA's. IPS panels where not designed to go that high. You sound like you would try free sync but Nvidia is stopping you as it was attended!
