Need help with a VMWare Player VM

I have some fresh VMs in VMWare Player, and I was really hoping there was an option somewhere to make it so that I can make changes while it's powered on, but then have the option to discard those changes when I shut it down or keep them. BUT, of course, I can't find such an option.

 

So I was really hoping one of you more experienced people could help me out with this.

Wouldn't that be like "hotswapping" a CPU/Ram or whatever you wanna change? I don't think any PC or OS would like that lol.

No. Nonononono. No you silly, silly chocolate bar.

 

I know that my school computers can do it where any changes made are lost unless the IT people feel like applying the changes (although they turned this feature off after people saved shit to the computers and not the network drive).

 

EDIT: And VirtualBox can do it, but it doesn't have the best performance, and it's been acting up lately.

Maybe your school computers have a different version maybe? Other than that with all my playing around, and I just asked my friend who is a student at UT, and he doesn't know either. 

Are you talking about every night or something the VM restores itself to a set state?

No. I'm talking about having it so when I run it, it acts normal, but when I kill it, I have the choice to save changes or discard them.

 

It's obviously a thing since VirtualBox can do it...
