Ok i kinda have my own views on this... My budget is $400, and i also need a new PSU..

Should i get a 960 (being cheaper) and use it till pascal releases so i spend the least as possible. Or just get a 970 and use that and then hold off on pascal for maybe a couple months after gigabyte releases there card.

Now logically the 960 is the best way but i want other people opinions.

I currently have a 750ti FTW edition

And a 500watt psu from EVGA

I5 4460

I'd say upgrade now.

Grab a R9 390 (or GTX 970 - honestly, whichever is cheaper) and a EVGA G2 650W. Should amount to around $360-380.

Please don't. A single-solution is always better, ESPECIALLY in that case.

the 960 4gb isn't a card that can keep up with the 970, the 970 is just plain more powerfull.

I SLI GTX 960's and while I don't recommend doing it- as you should always go for a single better card, it does perform better than a single 980 in most games.

If you're planning on waiting for Pascal, I would advise just keeping your 750Ti until Pascal releases, rather than spending money on a small upgrade inbetween.

Would switch out the PSU now (If it's the W1 series from EVGA). EVGA's GS and G2 series are good options.

its never a good idea to SLI two low end cards while there's a higher end better single card, SLI/CFX on low end cards is a dumb idea.

Not saying I recommend it but SLI does go over rather well for me lol. For example on highest settings in GTA 5 a single 980 gets about 65-70 FPS where as my dual GTX 960's get 75-80FPS.

No, it's a mid-tier GPU like a GTX 970 lol. A 950 would be considered a low end GPU, but even then it still a really good GPU for 1080p med/high settings.

I have most major games, take a look at my steam profile (JacktasticMofo) and pretty much all games support SLI rather well if you just enable a setting in GeForce Experience. Near doubling in almost all games with really good minimum framerates.

Hey even though you didn't ask about a fucking 390 and your options are a 960 or 970, I'm gonna reccomend something completely different because I can't read and even if I can... It's AMDTechSuggestions anyways so ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

anyways, get the 960 and wait for Pascallywag, I'm not sure how much better pascal will be for gaming than maxwell since its targeted for deep learning or some bullshit but I'm probably waiting for it too so ¯\(ツ)/¯

Yeah, i know, SLI scaling is not that perfect across all titles, i run SLI 760s and you just have to get through a few tweaks and whatnots to get it right, and yes a single stronger card is always better than two weaker ones ;)
