Corsair Carbide Spec 01 supports both 140mm and 120mm in the front does it matter what size i get? does 140mm have better airflow over 120mm

It does, but not that much. The advantage of having a 140 mm fan is that you can make it run slower while moving as much air as a 120 at full speed. that means a quieter fan.

Generally speaking the larger the fan the lower the necessary rpm which directly equates to lower noise.

2x 140mm's are usually as effective 3x 120mm's. 

Go with 140mm's where possible.

A larger fan will be able to move more air and will perform better. You can have a 140mm fan run at a lower speed than a 120mm one and still get the same amount of airflow with the fan running quieter. Or, you can have the 140mm fan run at the same speed or higher as the 120mm one for more cooling performance.
