Rattle noise from PC

Go to solution Solved by Bananasplit_00,

might be one fanblade is slightly crooked or the ball bering(or whatever those fans have instead) getting worn out slightly

Hey you guys,

I was wondering since my PC is making rattle noises.

I think that the noise is coming from the fans on my Corsair H100i GTX cooler with stock fans, but not sure.

when i turn up with a fixed % for the fans on the H100, the rattling starts at about 60%

The PC is working great, the temps for the CPU seems fine, 26Co idle and 65Co under load.

Hope that i have given enough information

Probably the fan blades are unbalanced. One of my Sickleflows rattle upon startup then it gets smoother after a few minutes.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Use your hand and press the center of the fans to stop them one at a time and listen for the sound, if the sound stops you know its one of the fans, if not its something else.

Would that potentially damage the fans?

Nah, besides what are you worried about your considering replacing them, no point in replacing them if they aren't the cause.

When i push at the center and stop the fan, the noise disappears, so i guess this means i have to replace them soon..

Also to note, is that the fan completely stops spinning, and i have to touch it, for it to start spinning again, is this normal? or does it mean it is broken in some way?

Typically they usually start spinning again on their own after a few seconds, but that was with my Noctua fans, not sure if the stock corsair fans work the same.
