How much watt?!

Tris15

Hey guys,

My little brother is planning to upgrade his pc.

We selected the R7850 for him.

How much watt does he need?

his system:

- i7 9xx <-- don't now which one (codename is lynfield)

- 1tb HDD

- 7850

- Dell motherboard (decent one)

- Dell XPS Case

- I hope a cx500 is enough for him

Thank you!

A cx430 is plenty for that.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

I thought of this as soon as I saw the title:

Yeah 500 watts should be more than enough. Just don't overclock your cpu and gpu too much

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp - use this for every build, taking possible updates into consideration and you won't need to ask that question again.

That thing doesn't work for me for some reason o_O

Back to the subject, the CX500 would be a great choice for this build, or the Silverstone Strider ST50F-ES is also a great choice for cheaper, as Silverstone makes quite good PSUs. http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=248

CoolerMaster Storm Scout 2 Black - Intel Core i5-4570 - CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 Evo - Sapphire Radeon HD7950 - Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB - ASRock Fatal1ty H87 Performance - Seagate Baracuda 1TB HDD - Sandisk SSD Plus 240GB - Seasonic G-550 - BenQ GW2255 21.5" LED Monitor

2016 MacBook Pro 13" - Google Pixel

Lynnfield was a codename for LGA1156 cpus, while i7-9XX were LGA1366, so check your part list again ;)
