How do you mean hardware engineer? Building parts (What I would consider Electrical Engineering + Computer Sciences)?

Or repairing PCs, so basically IT engineer?

What does an Transformer get? Life insurance or car insurance? - Russell Howard - Standup (Made me giggle a bit)

As mentioned, depends what you want to do. If you want to work in anything networking, you don't want to go to uni. You want to complete CCNA, CCNP, USBRA, UEWA and I forget the acronyms for the Meraki, Juniper and Rukkus equivalents but you'll want those too.

What kind of hardware? Computer hardware?

Hardware as in nuts, bolts, nails...?

Hardware as in construction machinery?

etc.
