Cheap 4GB GPU?

MrGoose0

So I recently noticed that my 7850 2GB is not performing so well on newer games like AC Syndicate and GTA V (I can stull run these games on high settings, but when it comes to high textures it kinda flops. I can only play on everything high and textues on medium setting)

My PC:

i5-4690K

AMD Radeon 7850 2GB

MSI B85 G41

SSHD from WD

So my question is ... is thre a cheap and legit GPU that I could buy ... maybe an AMD card that's equally as legit as the one I already have but with 4GB VRAM? As far as I know I can put 2 AMD cards in my system and they bridge together like SLI trough the MB and the system uses the VRAM from the one that has the most of it ..

If you want a better GPU with 4GB of VRAM, get a R9 285/380/380x or better.

A HD 7850 will probably not preform any better with more VRAM, it is just to slow, it is a mid-low tier card from 3 Generations ago.

I don't think it works like that. The card with the least amount of VRAM will be the amount of VRAM you can only use. So let's say you have a 2GB card with a 4GB one, you're only going to have 2GB of VRAM when XFired.

As for 4GB, you might be better off with the R9 380.

r9 290 are very cheap (especially used 290's) it will have more power in my Region you can get a used 290 for 200 EUR, otherwise I would recomend an R9 380 enough VRAM for the next years and decent power

Cheapest is probably a second hand R9 380 or R9 290(x).

By the way, Gb is not the same as GB. 4 Gigabit (Gb) is 0,5 Gigabyte (GB) so I just assumed you meant you want a 4GB GPU

Check Craigslist for a used 290x, I saw one for $150 the other day.

You won't be able to use all of the 4 gigs with a lower capacity card in CF though, since the textures and such must be mirrored across both cards, so both will only use 2 out of however many gigs are available.

Oh and not every card will be able to crossfire with a 7850. Make sure to check compatibility if you end up dual-GPU-ing.
