Hello, I have a question to ask for a friend, he as the MoBo: h57m01

http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/mainboard-h57m01-specs-12232011h650/ : specs here

and he wants to buy new ram from 2Gb to 8GB, the ram I found was: Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1454885999&sr=8-3&keywords=8GB+ram

The MoBo specs say that the memory supported is:
"4 * 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots Supports Dual Channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC , un-buffered memory (Max 8GB)"

but the ram I choose is 1600MHz not the 1333/1066 MHz.

Will this ram work or does the frequency need to be the same?

Thanks!

Again, it should automatically downclock itself, jsut make sure the RAM is not ECC based

Non-buffered ECC memory would work (only as non-ECC though). They are keyed the same as non-ECC RAM, while buffered RAM is not.

that just confused me and blew my mind xD

Haha, the more you know.

Not saying it's a good idea, though. Just that it can work. ECC is generally more expensive, and can cause some issues (particularly with multiple sticks) in non-ECC boards/CPUs.

As were here, any ideas on a GPU?

Is this is one good:

Gigabyte NVIDIA GT 730 Graphics Card - 2GB

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-gigabyte-gt-730-5000mhz-gddr5-gpu-902mhz-384-cores-vga-dvi-hdmi

Please don't. Save your monney and buy a 960.

It's good in the sense that it provides a display output.

Other than that, it's not great.

Do you have a budget for the GPU?

Here is a update, so my friend bought the ram. installing it today there was many problems, it was not working. so we went back to the old ram and it was fine, we tried the new one again and we smelt burning... the system now makes a constant beeping noise that does not end. is this because the RAM needs to also be compatible with the CPU or is just the MOBO that it needs to be compatible with?
