Those part will work together, but I bet people will recommend you go with a core i5 4460 and/or r9 380 for better performance.

They are compatible but go Intel... Also you can save on the OS... You can get win 7 or 8.1 Pro full retail version and upgrade for like $35 US.. 

 

Also why bother with fans? what case did you get, as long as you have 2 fans your good for anything but the hottest of builds

Thanks for the advice but it seems the r9 390 starts at $470CAD while the GTX 960 4GB is $330CAD according to PCPartpicker.
