Need help with home server

Hello.

So I've got a server at home which I am using to run virtual computers on it. I thought if I would get a new ISP, a new router and a new network card then realistically I could have some of my virtual computers running on one IP address and others on different IP addresses. In my case it would be cheaper for me than buying a new computer and for example taking it to friends house to run it there. Would it work?

Who is your ISP? Also, what would be the purpose of the server?

wait... you mean like having two internet lines come in and have some of the VMs on one line, and everything else on the other?

 

thats not that hard, its just a matter of getting the two lines, and two NICs in your server, and running the seperate lines to your server. after that its just a matter of configuring in your VM software of choice which VM goes where.

Yes that is exactly what I meant. So basically Im going to get new ISP also new line in and then i will get another NIC and I should be good to go.

My ISP is Telia (Also known as Elion). I live in Estonia. I cannot really tell what the purpose is.

Hmm, tried to read their support site but google translate only goes so far. The question is does your ISP allow multiple IP's. If so, how much. Then compare that to how much it would cost for new ISP service/modem/etc.

Can't tell for privacy reasons or because you haven't decided yet? If the later, it may help to decide that first, so you can compare pro vs cons of virtual servers vs dedicated servers.

Id say little bit of both. Im not going to need high speed internet. Because of the total data per day is really low.
