should handle some games at medium/high settings 60fps+

I wouldn't worry about the performance hit because 980ti's in sli will absolutely destroy everything at 3440x1440 @60hz. With that kind of power I'd look into the 1440p 144hz displays instead.

Another tech tuber called Joker Productions did a video about this except he compared 3440x1400 to 4k.

Like you he also has 980ti's.
