Hey everyone, so I've got a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with:

So I finally decided to get into pc gaming and build my own computer. And for the most part it works great! 10/10 would build again! Except for this one small problem: every once in a while, if I just leave it idle for a few hours, or allow it to go to sleep, the computer freezes completely. The mouse doesn't move, my chroma keyboard lights stop working and become static, the reset button on the case doesn't even work, I have to do a hard restart by holding the power button. And just recently, it froze in the middle of typing a sentence in a skype chat and I had to, again, do a hard restart. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem from me installing something wrong on my first try, or a software issue with the OS. I've installed all the latest drivers and updated the bios so that shouldn't be the problem. It's also not overheating, whenever I pull up the cpu and gpu temperatures, whether idle or in game, everything is normal. It may be worth noting that, being my first build, i completely forgot that my power supply was fully modular when I built it, and just left all of the unused wires connected to the power supply on one end and stuffed the rest in the back of the case, and so far ive been too lazy to go back and take them out because i didn't think they presented that much of an issue.

In any case, I'm hoping this issue might be familiar to someone who can help me solve it. I've listed the specs below:

CPU: Intel core i5 6600k 3.5 GHz quad core

Cooler: Cryorig H7 49 CFM

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming ATX LGA1151

Memory: 16 gigs (2x8) Vengence DDR4

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500 GB 2.5" SSD

GPU: Powercolor Radeon R9390 8GB PCS+

Power Supply: EVGA SUpernova P2 750W 80+ Platinum-Certified Fully-Modular ATX

OS: Windows 10

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

100% driver issues.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Do you think there are updates I'm not thinking about or are you thinking it may be a bad install on one or more of my drivers?

Well, I'm willing to bet your chipset drivers haven't been installed, that coupled with any other drivers that you've failed to do.

Ok! Well, having never heard of a chipset driver before, I just searched chipset in the Cortana menu, found a chipset driver install wizard in the intel folder, and ran it. I'll update if I continue to have freezing issues. If you don't mind, if the chipset drivers are so important, why aren't they one of the things that auto installs when you do your first boot? And what exactly do the drivers do?

As for other drivers, I've installed the ones for my Motherboard, my SSD, my GPU, and all my peripherals. Does anything stand out that I might be missing?

Thanks!

Also, there's like 4 other posts on this forum about new pc builds freezing, and most of the answers I've read on those say their power supply is bad or something along those lines. This is the first time I've heard of the chipset drivers, so you could go be a tech hero to those people too if you want.

I literally just face palmed...  Please read my guide on installing Windows, then let me know if you have any questions.  You really shouldn't have installed a generic chipset driver.  You've just asked for troubles.
