Red Or Green?

Would it be better to go with a Nvidia or Radeon Card for CAD software and rendering?

totally depends on the software, if it has CUDA acceleration, nvidia all the way, if it has opencl acceleration, go AMD.

I am by no means an expert on graphics cards, but from the research I have done some people say that with certain settings AMD cards can perform better because AMD has always centered on video performance. I know my complete AMD system (FX-8350 & 2x R9 280 OC Edition) has no problem with rendering 1080p videos pretty quick.

There are many variables that make you choose between one or the other.

Also, both companies have their top value GPUs, someone with $140 would get a GTX 950, but someone with $300 is very likely to opt for the R9 390.

This is a CAD build so video rendering doesnt really pertain

Simply because you said CAD, I would go nvidia due to their CUDA cores.

Yeah, I know its not exactly the same thing as video rendering, i was just saying that I don't even have top of the line graphics cards and my system does some work. I have done some CAD stuff and it seemed to work just fine, granted it not using some kind of super expensive CAD suite.
