I have a slightly functional Windows setup atm. I would like to fix it but I'm not confident I can do unless I reinstall Windows on a new drive. Can I upgrade a Windows 7 new installation to 10 If I still have the disk?

If the motherboard is the same then yes, otherwise you might run into issues trying to activate properly but still should be able to do so if you have your activation code.
