Why the hate?

megadarkwood

In my experience they have been VERY cheaply made, and the components are usually bare minimum

I have actually, and I find them to be built much better than Dell's equivalent.

HP use decent materials on the exteriors of their devices. Try having a look at the internals though. The ones I've seen so far are pretty awful. Especially mine. :(

Many of their laptops have terrible issues with overheating.

Mine is crazy loud and overheats with just Chrome and Skype open, it's extremely uncomfortable to use and it's super hot. This wouldn't be so bad if I could open it up but they pretty much made it impossible to open by yourself. They've also admitted to the problem but still sold their laptops anyway.

I'm pretty much ready to throw my laptop out of the window. I don't know if they've fixed their problems with their laptops but I'm never buying from them again.

Wow @ the people who can't take care of a laptop. I had a Dell laptop for 5 years and it was in amazing condition. I let my brother borrow it and it was broken within two weeks.

If it can mean anything to anybody at any time, it means nothing.

I think that they get a bad rep because they make a lot of low end and crappy products. Though I have given up on consumer grade laptops a while ago, and I believe that my mom's HP ProBook is miles ahead of my dad's Dell Latitude.

Also the bloatware is really not a problem, the first thing that I do when I get a new laptop is make a bootable flash drive and reinstall the OS.
