Hi i have just recently bought a cheap second hand Asus 750Ti, to which I installed it straight into the PCIe x 16 slot without and wires to the power supply as it doesn't need it apparently. Until now I have been running off the intel 4600 GPU, now for some reason i cant get it my system to notice it the card or install drivers for it. If i move the HDMI over its just a black screen.

What should i do?

Edit1 - I have also gone into BIOS looking for a display change setting but cannot find one.

Did I read that correctly? The GPU isn't connected up to the power supply?

A lot of 750Tis only have a TDP of 60w, the PCIE lane can push out 75ws of power. Even allows for a little overclock, A 750ti doesn't need power connectors.

So could it be a case of his MB not pushing out enough power?

Are you sure the monitor is connected to the 750 ti and not to your motherboard?

Check because some 750tis DO have a power connector, if not then disregard

Check the BIOS perhaps something is disabled that shouldn't be

Perhaps the PCI lane is damaged? is there only one PCi-E lane on that board?

Did you take proper precautions to prevent a static discharge? I have a feeling you might have fried the graphics card.

This one does have a power connector - I'll try that.

As for the bios I'm not 100% sure of what i should be looking for if something is disabled.

Ill try a different PCI lane as well. Back in a few.

If your 750 Ti has a supplementary power connector, I would assume the card won't run without it. Even if some other 750 Ti cards don't need it.

Most boards with multiple full-length PCIe slots that I've had experience with require you to use the top-most slot when installing a single card. The others are for SLI/Crossfire or other expansion cards. Installing a single video card into any other slot but the top on my board results in almost precisely the problem you're describing.

Thx for your help don't need your sarcasm, as said they can run off the MB

No sarcasm intended. Just because two cards use the same chip does not mean they are the same or that they require the same amount of power. Cards all vary, even cards with the same chip from the same company. Different clocks and fans and such have differing power requirements. Chances are, if they include a separate power connector, they intend for you to use it. Just because 750 Ti A doesn't require separate power does not mean 750 Ti B doesn't.
