Crusaders kings 2, siege problem

Hey guys,

I am new to crusader kings 2, and I recently started a new campaign.
I attacked my neighbor, destroyed his army and siege the city. He doesn't have anything left.

I don't know why, after the siege was over, a new army appeared in the castle..., even if I already won and imprisoned my enemies wife and son.
The army was roughtly 300 dude before I start the siege, and after I won, it raised up to 800.
wtf

Help, I need some explanations ^^

I have never seen that happen in over 200 hours of CKII O_o

The siege was just unbroken and he regained a 800 man garrison? No idea.

It may have been event troops, or they may have hired mercs.

I know right ??
I tried diplomacy, it says that he is completely beaten and is ready for peace, but I can't click on the button to enforce demande.
Did I do something wrong ?

Is the button grayed out, is your war score 100%?

I believe its because your demands is for them to lose everything, and noone will accept anything on these terms, even if they are totally beaten

?
I mean, it is war. If they loose, they are not supposed to have anything to say right ?

Yep, 100% in my favor.

Maybe there was a vassal with an unsieged holding raising his personal troops? Did the new stack have a different flag?

No, it seems to be the same.

If you have 100% warscore it should work, but try to hover over the grayed out button, it should tell you what criteria you dont have

Although it was a while ago since i played crusader kings 2 so my memory is blurry, i really need to get back into it soon

I may be misinterpreting you, but the 800 you talk about popping are the Defenders in that picture, right? Then that's because you first sieged the main holding in that province, and now you're sieging the next one. You can see that in the bottom left of the pic, it still doesn't have your white and black coat of arms because you haven't taken it yet.

Yeah, those soldiers

Don't forget that  I am new to this game, so it may takes some times to understand what you are talking about ^^
But is that normal that the main holding got 2 times less defenders than the main holding ?
If I beat this one, will their be a third holding with 2000 dudes ? ^^
And is there a way to know how many holdings a province got ?

There are only 2 holdings in that province. :)

They are the little pictures of towns/churches/castles. A church represents a bishopric, and a castle represents a barony. Usually the main holding in a province (AKA a county) is a castle, but it varies. And typically a barony has more soldiers than a bishopric, which has more soldiers than a town. I'm not 100% familiar with those Irish holding portraits, but it looks like the main holding may be a town, and then it's normal for the bishopric to have more soldiers.

In addition, when you fought the guy's main army, those soldiers lost on the battlefield would have been missing from the defense of the holding. So that would have made the siege that much easier too.
