Sequel to X99 Intel??

When do you think the sequel to X99 is coming? I'm saving up my money and i'm hoping to have enough to upgrade when they come out.. I heard they were coming around the end of the year or the beginning of next year?

It will be Skylake -e and it will be released around 2017.

X179 (just a guess) should come out year. hopefully itll be a nice lineup but i wont be buying anything.

There wont be a sequel until next generation because each enthusiast platform stays for 1 generation then the next one comes.

broadwell-e uses X99, but i'm thinking X179 for skylake-e

yeah thats why skylake came out right? so won't the new X99 be skylake based?

There will be new skylake-e based boards but they will also be backwards compatible with broadwell-e based boards without all the new stuff.

X99 chipset's socket 2011-v3 will host Skylake-e CPUs since it is the same socket actually, but when the next generation of high end CPUs will be released (after Skylake-e) then most likely Intel will release the new high end chipset. Also something that it is a "rule of thumb" as we say..... there is no "good time" or "time to wait" in order to buy something that's high end....the time is now...you either buy it, or you don't buy at all. At least that's what my XP taught me over the years in computing....

Skylake-E Will not be on X99. Broadwell-E Will be.
