It will completely reset your windows, kinda like fresh install, but u won't lose your licence

EDIT: U can backup your documents by yourself, or you can chose the milder version that keeps some files on the PC and it's just a partial reset of the OS

It will get it to the state of as if you just bought the PC and turned it on for the first time. It will not remove the OS but it will remove all your data and files.

Exactly, you won't loose the licence and you will not loose the operating system, it will just "revert" back to a fresh windows.

How about making a bootable USB drive and just doing a fresh windows install? Since you were already ready to delete all of your files, i see absolutely no down side to this..

u using 1 drive or more? U might have lost admin acess to your drive
right-click on the OS drive > properties > security (check if u as a user or admin have full rights to that disk)

If i were in your position, i would honestly just make a bootable USB drive from another computer and install a fresh version of windows. It seems like the easiest and fastest solution.

But if you don't want to do that step just yet, i suggest reading this thread below:

It wont allow you boot to a USB stick, or even a disk, and install an OS? I really doubt it.

This is about where i run out of ideas though.

Ok, background on this:

- upgraded from windows 7
- changed the mobo
- had to buy a new licence key
- Windows start's being weird (reason still unknown, might be the drive, might be a mobo driver conflict or something....)
- When trying to do a full reset: error(there was a problem reseting your pc no changes were made)
- Reset with keeping the files works (currently in progress)

He has an installation USB and the licence key, so if this doesn't solve the problem, he'll try a clean install.
