Hello All,

A friend of mine has asked me for some help.  He only plays 2 games BF4 and Dying Light.  He said he is experiencing choppy play and stuttering in both games.  He has reinstalled BF4 and all his drivers are up to date and has done virus and malware scanning and nothing has showed up.  He said it happened a few months ago and then went away.  I suggested a system restore to an earlier date, but I am not sure if that is a good idea. His specs are:

4690k, a gigabyte Z97 UD3H mobo, an XFX R9 280, 8 gigs of kingston HyperX Ram windows 7, a WD 1tb HD and a 240g SSD (not sure of brand) and a 750w Fractal Integra R2 PSU.

Do you guys think it could be a hardware issue?  I am going over to try and troubleshoot for him in a few days.  Any ideas/advice as to something I should be looking for or testing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The only thing i have seem to have found software wise is it that windows 7 has problems running bf4.Otherwise (if you haven't already) you should check your GPU and CPU temps, could be thermal throttling, is the system regularly cleaned? whats the air flow like? you may also want to try replacing thermal paste if temperature is your issue.

What is the resolution of his monitor and maybe the graphics settings are too high.

The monitor is 1080p,  He has been running it problem free for over a year.
