I tried everything, of most of my knowledge to overclock My i5-4690K CPU, but it was not sticking

After try changing multiplier, voltages,Uncore ratio.......in the bios [almost everything needed for an normal overclock ] , when booting clock speed decreased to max of 3900Mhz .

Also tried a number of times doing CMOS Reset & 2 times Bios Flashing.

< PC Configuration >

  • i5 4690K
  • Gigabyte Z97X UD3H BK [REV 1.1]
  • CM Hyper 212X
  • Bios Version : F8

I am attaching the normal Bios setting images that can be changes on this MB.

don't fuck with the uncore settings until after, my OC gets really fucky if i even look at that slider

try these settings

set all turbo core limits to 42, raise voltage to 1.250, do not touch the max current and wattage sliders, because, you guessed it, things go fucky for me and i run a UD3H too

try it, report back

ok , i am gonna give it a try now but i already tried this method one time after watching one of video from this forum !

jesus, that chip does NOT want to go any faster... it's not a voltage issue because 1.25 is MORE than enough for 4.2

clear CMOS, back the multipliers down to 40

Don't know to reason but can't bypass the bios-Logo after CMOS clearing & BIOS setting

okay, just clear cmos and leave it at stock, it doesn't want to play nicely, that's the limit of my knowledge in this area i'm afraid

:S.

Ok, after listening a lot [ about gigabyte ] ..

Is this happening due to Gigabyte MB ?

i'm not sure. i have a Z97 UD3H and i oc to 4.7 just fine

So, after all i think it's related to BIOS.

After reverting it to F7 version i am getting 4.2Ghz of turbo clock so, now i can overclock simply using clock multiplier !
