Hi,

I kinda want to get another videocard, meaning that I am thinking to upgrade to GTX 980 Ti, or GTX 970 SLI.

But because Pascal is coming, I'm wondering what to do. I could sell my current 970 and buy a 980 Ti, I could buy a second 970 or I could sell my current 970 and buy a Pascal gpu when it comes out (I believe in Q2?).

Selling my 970 and buying a 980 Ti, would cost me around 400 Euro's.

Buying a second 970, would cost me around 350 euro's.

Selling my current 970 would give me around 300 euro's. Assuming the new pascal "980" would cost around 600, like the 980 at the beginning, it would cost me 300 euro's to upgrade, but I wouldn't be able to play high end games for a couple of months.

I'm currently running 4 screens, triple 1080p and a 1680x1050p monitor on top.

So yeah, I'm wondering what the best option would be?

The 980 Ti will not be beaten by much in terms of power and will likely be a bit cheaper than the next high end card.

And it will do the job at hand more than sufficiently so there for i would get a 980 Ti and call it a day.

Well, not really but it's not optical. I try to run games at max settings, but the fps is not very good when I do that. Especially GTA5 does not run very well. Just cause 3 runs better but it sometimes has annoying low fps, especially when there's a lot going on.

I'm assuming your running a surround set up with the monitors you have? If thats the case I know a 970 doesn't handle GTA5 on a single monitor very well when the setting are cranked up and you could just try to turn some stuff down because I would just wait till the new cards are released since the 1080 will outperform the 980ti at a lower price point and the 1070 should be about 980 level of performance.

If you're running the 4 screens then your best bet will be to go for the flagship pascal, since I'm hoping that the improved memory performance will be especially better for higher resolution gaming.

The 980Ti is a super fast Card which is and will handle modern Games easy.

We dont know how Pascal will perform. So if you want a badass Card now, go for a Custom 980Ti.

Yes I am. I'm kinda disappointed in how GTA5 looks compared to just cause 3, JC runs a lot smoother and looks better than GTA, especially when I lower the graphics even more. I know they are different games but still.

Hm okay, would it be wise to sell my current gpu and wait for pascal? How much do you think a 970 g1 gaming will drop in price? Here in The Netherlands they are second hand listed for 270-300 euro's. Pascal is out somewhere in Q2 right?

I can wait so I would first like to know how Pascal will perform.

Personally, I'm waiting for pascal to be released and reviewed before I buy anything, then Ill drop money on either the Titan depending on the 4K performance or 1080 and then sell the 970.

It's literally impossible to know the performance of the cards before they've been released and benchmarked. They can throw numbers at the screen all they want but the only number that really matters is FPS.
