Hi everybody,

I'm a big fun of kinda old audio hardware (amplifiers, CD players, cassette decks, tuners etc). Mainly late 80s/ early 90s.

Anyway, lately I've bought a graphic equalizer Technics SH-GE70 from 1990 and after using it for a couple of weeks I came up to the conclusion, that's a really helpful and useful device in your audio system.

So I decided to go to a few audio stores and see how nowadays graphic equalizer for home have changed. And... I was quickly realized that nobody makes them anymore.

Why?

Because people who are interested in EQ nowadays are more likely to have it built into their AV amps. Denon/Onkyo and maybe some others use Audyssey which actually does the EQ properly, rather than doing the lazy "smiley face" curve which just pointlessly turns up the bass and treble.

MiniDSP is a better bet than one of these silly equalisers if you have an actual problem you wish to cure, particularly with bass/subwoofers.

But those separate graphic equalizers have much better parameters than most of those that are built into amps.
