R9 390 if you want more performance and more vram (for future proofing)

GTX 970 if you really need the nvidia features like shadowplay

Thanks again for eliminating my confusions.

I think I need to take a good look at the team red ;)

Hi everyone,

I am a new member and this is my first post. At first I apologize for asking a noob question.

My old system got so old and I desperately need to upgrade it. I would like to build a mid range gaming PC with 1080p display. I prefer keeping  my old ASUS Vx229h monitor for now.

I have selected :

  1. Core i5 6600K
  2. Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
  3. G.SKILL RIPJAWS-V 8GB 3200BUS * 2

My current Graphics card is MSI GTX 650TI OC.

Will there be any bottleneck if I keep my current graphics card with the parts I have selected?

If bottleneck happens, is ASUS STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC is a good choice?

Thanks in advance.

with a gaming pc, the gpu should always be the bottleneck, so you're not bottlenecking the gpu, but you don't need a 6600k if you are gaming with a 650 Ti. If you want to get the most out of your cpu, you should get an R9 390 :)

there wont be any bottlenecking. just dont expect to play everything maxed out. the 970 would be a good choice if you plan to upgrade, but the R9 390 is fine too. whatever floats your boat mate

The 650Ti will definitely be fine, but don't expect max settings in many games.

The 970 is a good card, but I'd wait until the new AMD cards come out to see how they perform in comparison to team green. If they suck, get yourself a 970 or some other Nvidia card that's in the midrange or the high end. Also, the 3.5GB of RAM thing is there, if you were looking for 4GB of usable memory.

I selected 6600k for future proofing. :)

But is it not possible to max out settings in 1920x1080 resolution? :(
