so should i get windows 10 and use that os

and i have used the Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel H170 Mini-ITX  GA-H170N-WIFI motherboard and gotten the same problem butt i returned that board because amazon send me the wrong board any ways

Using Windows 10 probably isn't a bad idea, if I remember correctly there were some changes made with Skylake that cause issues with Windows 7 on some motherboards.

When i go to install windows 7 Professional 64-bit it tells me i have missing drivers and it asks me to put in a disk with my drivers but i don"t have a disk drive. I am installing from a bootable usb.

specs:

Did you get the windows iso from microsoft? or other sources?

I have not got a windows 7 code et, and needed an OS on my desktop, so I torrented the iso to have a usable PC for a few days, and one of the iso's I downloaded gave me that issue.

When I looked up the issue, someone said, that restarting the installer might fix it, but that was not the case for me.

Only way i fixed it was just getting another iso, and remaking the bootable USB

If you can, plug your bootable USB into a USB 2.0 port.

When making the installer, it asks whether it can check the web for updates. Was the box ticked and did it look for updates?

OK. If you have another computer to spare, download the required drivers directly to the USB (make sure they are extracted into a clearly marked folder) and when it asks for the driver, click browse, navigate to the USB and select the folder. I've had to do the same when installing Windows off my IDE DVD drive through its PCIe adapter (except I used a floppy diskette drive for the drivers).

Also, is the USB plugged into a USB 2.0 port? If its not its just asking for the USB 3.0 drivers.

You have to download the driver off the Asus website ( https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/Z170I-PRO-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/ ), extract it to a folder that you have clearly named on the USB (eg USB 3 drivers) then go from there. However you shouldn't need to do that if your using a USB 2.0 port for the USB stick.

I'm not sure what else you could do then. Windows 7 doesn't give me any grief on Z97 when installing off a USB (the same for H87) with both of my Asus motherboards (Sabertooth MKII+H87M Pro).

@riferaft

use this guide to inject USB3 drivers into the W7 install kitt: http://www.asrock.com/microsite/Win7Install/
you will need a PS2 keyb and mouse; if you don't have them use this guide: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility
